The procedure of Microblading is the technique of correcting or reconstructing an eyebrow using ultra fine needles to etch each hair like stroke by depositing cosmetic pigments into the skin. This gives a very natural look to the brow.
The entire procedure takes 2.5 to 3 hours and done under a topical anesthetic. Though microblading pigments are not implanted deep into the skin like traditional tattoos, it is still a form of tattoo cosmetology.
The client has to come in for a follow up visit after 4 to 6 weeks in order to have minor touch up. The follow up session is important and it will last for 1.5 to 2 hours. The area around the brow will be red for some time and as it heals there may be an itching sensation. The healing period is approximately 7 to 14 days. Microblading lasts for 1 to 3 years, but touch up session is advised every 12 -14 months.
1. It is best to avoid blood thinners like alcohol, caffeine and aspirin/ibuprofen for 72 hours beforehand.
2. Do not tan before the procedure as it would be difficult to assess your natural skin tone.
3. Stop using face scrubs or chemical peels at least two weeks prior to your appointment.
4. You can wear your usual brow make up when you go for the procedure, as the technician can see your daily look.
5. Check whether you are allergic to the topical anesthesia’s ingredients. Also check for pigment allergy before undertaking the procedure.
1. Clean your brows using a q-tip and lightly moisten with distilled water, within 2 hours after the procedure.
2. You have to gently wipe the healing balm and lymphatic liquid which may have built up. Then lightly pat dry with tissue and using a new q-tip, re-apply healing balm to the brows.
3. Apply a light layer of healing balm morning and night to brows for at least 5-7 days.
4. Do not allow water to touch your brow area for 14 days. When showering, make sure to avoid face area. When cleaning or washing face, make sure to avoid brows and clean around it.
5. Since the microbladed area is an open wound infection can easily be caught. So do not apply makeup on the brow area till it completely heals. This will take anywhere between 7 to 14 days.
6. Like pre procedure, you have to avoid blood thinners like alcohol, aspirin etc. for at least 24 hours.
7. It is common to feel itching sensation in the brow area as it heals. Take care not to peel or pick at the scabs as this can affect the pigmentation.
8. Do not go swimming, tanning or into saunas for at least 14 days after the microblading procedure and do not use face scrubs or chemical peels for at least 2 weeks.
9. And finally make sure to visit for your follow up session.
